Chemical companies focusing on greater diversity
Over 50 CEOs from both small and large companies in the Antwerp-Waasland region have committed to greater diversity on the work floor. To this end, they have signed a charter from VOKA – the Chamber of Commerce for Antwerp-Waasland. Many companies from the chemical sector are also supporting the initiative.
Diversity is currently high on the political and social agenda. That is why VOKA – the Chamber of Commerce for Antwerp-Waasland, started the initiative to focus on all employment skills: ‘Ondernemers bekennen kleur’ (Businesses see colour). The employers’ organisation held an open conversation with various companies, external organisations and the people of Flanders with migration backgrounds.
This resulted in a charter which emphasises the economic added value of diversity. Companies from the chemical sector, such as BASF Antwerpen, Borealis, LANXESS, Proviron Industries, Total and Water-link have signed up to the charter. They wish to take a leading role in the integration of all talent in the labour market, irrespective of gender, skin colour, nationality or background.
