The Belgian cosmetics industry is committed to working in line with the advertising code of DETIC, which has been extended to include a charter for responsible advertising and marketing communication. In doing so, the cosmetics industry recognises the importance of responsible advertising and marketing communication, which is essential to inform consumers about the characteristics of cosmetic products.

The cosmetics industry is committed to ensuring that all of its advertising and marketing communication is in line with European and national legislation and the existing framework for self-regulation. Advertising needs to be socially responsible, sincere, truthful and not misleading to enable consumers to make informed choices.

DETIC’s code, which is approved by the Advertising Ethics Jury, was updated at the end of 2020. Download pdf

DETIC is currently working on a code for the detergent sector, including environmental claims. It should be ready by the end of 2021.
