Diversity, equality, and inclusion on the agenda at Solvay
The Solvay Chemical Group is implementing the “Solvay One Dignity” programme, which aims to change the culture of the organisation in terms of diversity, equality, and inclusion. The programme aims to eliminate all forms of discrimination and cultivate an inclusive and diverse environment that promotes equal opportunities for employees of all backgrounds, ages, genders, nationalities, ethnicities, religions, sexual orientations, identities, and abilities.
Specific goals include ensuring fair recruitment, making sure that all Solvay employees feel confident to report non-inclusive behaviour that contradicts the company’s principles, and accelerating gender parity at all middle and senior levels by 2030 while closing any undesirable pay gaps.
In 2021, the company has also extended maternity, paternity, and co-parenting leave to 16 weeks. It is now available to any parent, regardless of gender or sexual orientation, and includes adoptive parents. The parent employed by Solvay receives 100% of his or her salary during this leave period.
