Created in 2011 with the support of the Federal Public Service Economy, essenscia’s Patent Cell is a permanent point of contact for companies in the chemical, plastics and life sciences sectors – particularly SMEs – for all their intellectual property-related questions.

With interactive workshops, tailor-made services and the identification of the latest technologies and scientific developments in the sector, the Patent Cell mainly helps SMEs leverage their innovative power. The chemical and life sciences industry accounts for almost two-thirds of all industrial investments in research and development, making them undeniably Belgium’s innovation champion.

Every year, the essenscia Patent Cell organises three free workshops, both in Flanders and in Wallonia, to help companies maximise the protection and promotion of their innovations. During these interactive information sessions, experts explore current themes and legislation related to the protection of intellectual property. Participants receive first-hand advice and learn from testimonials from other companies in the sector.

Through technological monitoring, the essenscia Patent Cell keeps sector companies up to date on the latest trends and technological developments in related fields, providing companies with detailed insight into a wide range of technology domains, which can be a valuable source of ideas for the development of new technologies.
