In a highly competitive environment, offering decent salaries is one key to having a stable and satisfied workforce. With an average gross salary of €4,567 per month in 2019, the chemicals and life sciences industry offers attractive remuneration rates compared with the average gross salary in manufacturing as a whole.
Gross salaries are an average of 18% higher than in other manufacturing sectors (although the figures vary between sub-sectors). This is linked to the fact that the chemicals and life sciences industry has a higher proportion of qualified and specialised employees than other sectors.
The wage gap between men and women employed full-time in the chemicals and life science industry has been closing steadily over the past ten years, down from 13.7% in 2009 to 10.6% in 2019.
