L’Oréal Libramont, specialist in the manufacture of hair care products, has been awarded the “Industry of the Future” label by the Agence du Numérique. Constant investment has led the Libramont factory to become a reference in terms of sustainable development, new technologies, organisation and training. It is the first company in the chemical sector to win this award in Wallonia.
The Factory of the Future Awards online ceremony awarded the 2021 Industry of the Future prize to L’Oréal Libramont, alongside Delhez Tôlerie. Agence du Numérique organises the Factory of the Future Awards as part of Digital Wallonia. essenscia is one of 37 partners involved in this initiative to promote pioneering and exemplary companies in their transformation towards Industry 4.0. The factories of the future are selected according to a detailed audit based on the “Made Different” methodology.
4400 finished hair products
L’Oréal Group’s Belgian factory, based at the Libramont site since 1975, produces hair colouring, styling, and hair care products for the European consumer market. The factory’s 400 employees produce 200 million units and 4,400 finished product references in 31 different formats each year.
Digitalisation and sustainability
Over many years, L’Oréal Libramont has invested to improve its production processes and remain competitive, provide jobs for the region and thus be a reference site for the Group. It has installed remote-controlled machines to move pallets, cobots and connected applications to facilitate the work of teams, and a sludge drying greenhouse to reduce waste.
